The primary calendar is determined by equal parts;

state rules
state committees rules

Once the delegate selection plan is crafted locally its sent to the partiy for appoval/disapproval

The DNC only role is to say yes or no

They have and do reject the plans.

The DNC and RNC doesn’t craft the plan at the local level. But they do tell you what commandments shall not be broken

Going before Iowa or NH is an immediate revocation of delegates.

Do you know who your state chair is? Because that who appoints the head of the delegate selection committee.

So what happens if these 3 dont agree.

If the state government crafts a plan irrespective of the State Committee

The DNC listens to their State Committee

- I guess you are voting twice like Nebraska and Washington state in 2016

Ppl hate that.

If its the state committee and the state Gov are in agreement but they didn’t get approval from the DNC then you have what happened in 2008- when Michigan and Florida were At risk of being stripped of delegates

The DNC doesn’t recognize the delegates as legitimate

From the time I fell off the turnip truck- every DNC convention is filled with this question of why does Iowa and NH go first?

And every year some state tries to push up closer in the calendar to feel the full force of the DNC bodyslam them back down

The DNC actually awards you more delegates if you agree to move back in the nominating calendar.

The party sole purpose for existence is to win.

But everytime this question has been asked- the answer lies in decades old traditions

If we can stop calling the annual Democratic ball the JJ as in the Jefferson Jackson Dinner. We can evolve from this too.
