OK, Bernie Sanders is now getting a lot of tough media coverage. This is a *good* thing, and should be welcomed — even by Sanders supporters 1/
The truth is that Sanders hasn't really been vetted until now. And everyone understands why: his Democratic rivals were afraid to go too negative out of fear that outraged Bernie Bros would stay home in the general election 2/
But Trump won't show that kind of restraint. So now is the time for the Sanders campaign to figure out how to deal with questions about things he said about Castro, the cost of his Medicare plan, and all that 3/

Well, Bernie Sanders is now the clear favorite for the Democratic nomination. Lots of things to say about that, but the most important is that he is NOT a left-leaning version of Trump. Even if you disagree with his ideas, he's not a wannabe authoritarian ruler 1/
America under a Sanders presidency would still be America, both because Sanders is an infinitely better man than Trump and because the Democratic Party wouldn't enable abuse of power the way Republicans have 2/
And if you're worried about his economic agenda, what's your concern, exactly? That he'll run budget deficits? Trump is doing that already — and the economic effects have been positive 3/

So, I had a conversation with neighbors — sophisticated people! — who read this piece and thought that "The Times says that interest payments have gone from $400 billion to $1 trillion." They didn't realize that it was an opinion piece by a Republican 1/ nytimes.com/2020/02/18/opi…
And it was a Republican who had his facts wrong. CBO projects a much smaller rise in interest payments *over a decade* — and most relevant, it projects a rise from 1.8 to 2.6 percent of GDP, which isn't that scary 2/ cbo.gov/publication/56…
Furthermore, a lot of that projection is driven by the assumption that interest rates will rise a lot — to 3% on average in the 2nd half of this decade, v 1.5% now. That's a very dubious assumption 3/ cbo.gov/publication/56…

Democrats and their media carrier pigeons constantly scream that Trump is a tool of Putin. To back up their claim, they carefully and methodically point to zero evidence. (Although, Trump hasn't ignited World War III with Russia, so there!)
After spending nearly three years (and a bazillion dollars) frantically rummaging through Trump's entire life to see if he might have ever done anything illegal, all they're left with is an embattled Pelosi-Nadler impeaching #Trump for exercising executive authority.
Then laughably holding back their phony and partisan impeachment articles from the Senate, where they are dead on arrival.

OBAMA should be more mindful when accusing Trump about the press & leaks:

1. It is common knowledge among journalists that the #Obama administration has prosecuted more leakers under the 1917 Espionage Act than all former presidents combined. But few admit this truth.
