I have a little story to share with you all about the importance of door knocking and reaching out to your friends and neighbors and encouraging them to vote for Bernie!

I went out door knocking all weekend in the town my precinct is in. I was happily surprised when... (1)

...the Dr.'s name I used to work for (Keith) popped up as the next door to knock. He wasn't home so I left the Bernie literature on his door and decided to reach out and text him. I told him I stopped by and left him a love note from Bernie 😍and that I hoped to see him... (2)

...on Monday at the caucus.

Caucus day comes and my Field Organizer comes to help out at my precinct as an observer since we're the largest in the county. (Don't be too impressed. The county is still so small and rural, there isn't one stoplight in the entire county! 😱) (3)

So she counts people as they arrive in order to calculate how many we will need for Bernie to be viable. Doors lock at 7pm sharp. Bear in mind, this town is not only very rural but an elderly community and very Trumpy. She has determined that the viability number is 18.

It's 6:59 and we have 17 voters. My heart hit my shoes. It has been such a heavy load for me as the Volunteer Leader in my county and Precinct Captain for Bernie, worrying that I would let Bernie and the campaign down if I wasn't able to rally enough votes for him.

The burden has been really heavy, because it matters so much to so many (even if they don't know it).

I swear to God, they are closing the doors at 6:59 and 59 seconds and in flies Dr. Keith screaming, "Wait! I'm here to caucus for Bernie Sanders!!" 😍😍😍

I start getting a little teary eyed and he says, "Lis, thanks for reminding me! I had totally forgotten the caucus was tonight!"

Guys, personal contact is how we win this election. If the thought crosses your mind to reach out to a friend, family member or neighbor...

DO IT!! Do not hesitate. It's easy, takes minimal effort and can change everything. Please do it. ❤
