(8/) Oprah & Gayle have many receipts showing they asked Qs or were asked Qs abt white celebrity rapists & assaulters that had previously been friendly/friends with.

(9/) But some ppl want to throw out this false narrative to deflect from the fact that some of their faves have committed sexual assault & harrassment....allegedly. You can't erase the harm someone has caused just bc they became a successful Black man. Sorry no.

(10/) When Bill Cosby dies the 1st thing I will think abt is the circumstances that lead to him dying in prison. I used to follow R. Simmons on social. Now, I wonder if his accussers will ever get justice. Then I wonder how his daughters deal w/ having a father accussed of rape.

(14/) I own a ton of R. Kelly albums, but listening to his music now literally sends shivers down my spine. It is unfortunate how many preformers with 100% bops have him on their tracks. I turn the channel every single time.

(15/) And don't even get me started on the King of Pop. My spirit is unsettled. MJs music is a huge part of the soundtrack to my life. I don't know how to mentally untangle it. I don't know how much to try. Do I think he could have done what he was accussed of doing? Absolutely.

(16/) Were there times in my life while MJ was still alive that I created elaborate narratives in my head to negate any culpability he might have. Absolutely. Do ppl get to talk about & re-analyze the allegations now that he is dead. Absolutely.

(19/) I think part of the reason some Black folks can't stand Gayle, Oprah, and other Black women asking these questions or telling these stories is bc they view it as a betrayal: they believe Black women shld be ride or die & protect Black men at all costs.

(20/) Some think that we shouldn't "tear down our own" bc there are already enough non-Black people chomping at the bit to do it. I disagree: It is not tearing someone down to speak the truth about who they are & what they have done.

(21/21) If we try to sweep all the bad under the rug like it never happened, like ppl weren't harmed by past bad acts, like people aren't still dealing w/the fallout of prior bad acts & if we can't be honest about ppl who have done bad things then how do we learn to do better?
