Scattered picture emerging out of #China manufacturing sector on when factories reopen. Key points: don’t expect them to open on Feb 10 - initial date set by authorities. Expect inconsistency, overzealous local officials, & mask shortage to drag out restart in #globalsupplychain.
In #Guangdong Province, there is no official notice on when factories should reopen. However, many localities urging companies to stay shut until Mar 1. For eg., Lecong county in city of #Foshan encourages all companies not to resume work until Mar 1.
Police of Huangpu district in city of #Zhongshan posted on their social media WeChat account companies shouldn’t resume work before Mar 1 without permission. 
For #Shenzhen, a clothing manufacturer with a factory there told me he has been instructed by local officials he cannot reopen until he gets permission from authorities. He is still waiting to find out what documents he needs to submit. Currently he is hoping to open by Feb 17.
In Beijing, one parts manufacturer tells me he plans to open on Feb 11.
On #masks, many manufacturers being told they cannot resume production until they have sufficient masks for all workers. Some getting help from local authorities. Others having trouble sourcing. Several having private shipments redirected to Wuhan or other badly affected areas.
One manufacturer in Guangdong said his locality requires 2 masks per worker per day. (Unlike other places like US or Europe, #China manufacturing heavily dependent on labor. Lots of workers on assembly lines. All in need of masks.) #coronavirus #globalsupplychain
