#Iran’s former IRGC chief Mohammad Ali Jafari says Qassem Soleimani was involved “in the streets” during the crackdown against the 1999 & 2009 uprisings.
This goes against all the arguments of Soleimani being a national hero fighting abroad for Iran’s security.
This has apparently touched a sensitive nerve inside the Iranian regime.
Immediately there were claims of this account being fake.
The account was established in May 2016, only follows the regime’s supreme leader @Khamenei_fa, has 30.4K followers & tweets only occasionally.
Why is this important?
First, this goes against arguments of Soleimani being a national hero fighting abroad for Iran’s security.
Known Iran apologist @farnazfassihi of the @nytimes described Soleimani as “popular” & “universally admired”.
This once again proves she lied.
Second, February 11 marks the 40th day after Soleimani’s killing. Iranians traditionally mark the 40th of their dead.
Feb 11 also marks the 41st anniversary of Iran’s 1979 revolution & the regime seeks to use Soleimani as a unifying image to rally a massive crowd.
Back in March 2018, Jafari himself quoted Khamenei about concerns regarding the IRGC’s internal status.
Once again in July 2018, Jafari himself said:
"Internal weakness is far more serious than US' military threat"
In a meeting with IRGC commanders in 2019, Khamenei warned against “defections” in the Guards’ ranks.
Case in point: Jafari himself was removed from his post as head of IRGC months earlier.

My conclusion:
Domestic crises & sanctions are crippling the mullahs’ regime of Iran. The structure is crumbling from within.
The mullahs’ days are numbered.
I welcome any & all constructive feedback.
