Last week, the mom of #Fatima, a 7-year-old girl in Mexico arrived 20 mins late to pick her up so the girl was left outside the school gates to wait. Over the weekend, her body was found. She was kidnapped, tortured and killed.

This is not normal, yet is the norm in Mexico.

Between 10 and 11 women are killed every day in the country... IN EVERY STATE of the country. Last year, the total of women and girls killed was 3,825.

For weeks now, thousands have protested in my country demanding action from the authorities against the kidnappings, the disappearances, the killings of girls and women.

I not only follow the protests but every single case reported.

Yet the news about #Fatima just broke me... How am I supposed to teach about #ChildRights or about #SocialJustice when something like this happens.

I know... I know. It is precisely because it happened that this work matters, but... right now all of it feels particularly hard
