Safaricom has the potential of becoming the largest African Ecommerce platform. Here is a tip to Safaricom for FREE: Use Safaricom shops as distribution centres and MPesa Agents as last mile delivery/pickup points for clients. You have the value chain and infrastructure already
Safaricom (or any telcom really) already has the infrastructure, the network, the agents, the payment gateway, the market share and mots importantly THE TRUST of the clients. Get localised merchants and wing it in the ecommerce space.

I order a lot of stuff on Amazon I don’t need to, and working on this piece made me think hard about that.

Amazon doesn’t have decades of experience in last-mile delivery. What it does have is a massive customer base with a near-unquenchable appetite for quick delivery.
Combine that with the company’s customer-focused ethos, you get a problematic situation. And with third-party delivery companies in the mix, you add even more chances for a system to break down.

Most people we talked to who spoke to us about safety issues sounded exhausted.

Uber S-1 thoughts:

-AWS for transportation is its final form
-It's a modern day temp agency; driver churn is 3-5x below industry avg
-Eats cities profitable in 4-6 quarters, aggressive expansion impacted 2H‘18, 40% of users are new to Uber, and is a wedge into last mile delivery
If you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’ve read other Uber S-1 takes. We all knew Uber was burning cash, but a lack of cohort data (both drivers and riders), and its core business metrics collapsing to end 2018, was surprising.
Like most US companies, the US and developed Europe are likely Uber’s cash cows, but international revenue helps cover overhead, and can be incremental cash flow.
