Russian state oil company Rosneft paid mystery consultant $250mil in 2017-2018 to help secure deals in Iraqi Kurdistan

Bloomberg doesn't mention this: in 2017 Manafort worked on Kurdish referendum & I noted coincidence that Rosneft just closed deal there

Nothing indicates Manafort is consultant paid by Rosneft's Swiss subsidiar, Rosneft Trading SA, the unit the US imposed sanctions on last month related to Venezuela

But the 2017 story on Manafort's work on Kurdish independence seemed an odd coincidence:

Here's the 2017 story on Manafort working on Kurdish Referendum opposed by U.S. along with his business associate Philip Griffin

2017 story on Rosneft taking control of Iraqi Kurdish pipeline & investing $3.5 billion in the autonomous region - the earlier Kurdish independence referendum angered neighbors Iran and Turkey & US called it a 'provocation' - but Moscow supported the vote

From 2017 story - Rosneft said it would own 60% of the pipeline, with current operator KAR Group retaining 40%. In addition to Rosneft other major creditors included Glencore and Vitol.

One of the biggest players in Iraqi Kurdistan is Genel Energy - co-founded by Nat Rothschild (was Chairman of Oleg Deripaska's EN+ 2005-2011) & Tony Hayward (Chairman Glencore, ex-head of BP during TNK-BP sale, advisor to Mikhail Fridman's LetterOne)

One of Paul Manafort's earliest jobs working with Oleg Deripaska was through Deripaska's partner Nat Rothschild
