Mr Bailey took the panel on a history lesson & suggested that as @TheFCA is only a young organisation, started in 2013 it doesn't have the reputation or integrity as the @bankofengland

When @theFCA started intention was to only regulate big firms - now has to regulate 59,000 firms so can't manage. Agreed there was systematic failure in the regulator which was not his fault but the fault of MPs & government for not chnaging the @TheFCA 's remit

. @hbaldwin rightly outraged by Andrew Bailey's response and said he can't blame MPs for his failures - 'if there was systematic failure why didn't you ask politicians to change the remit of @theFCA '

Another repeated obfuscation by Andrew Bailey was to say some things were within @TheFCA 's perimeter and some things were outside. Simple truth - every firm regulated by @TheFCA was inside their perimeter!

. @angelaeagle robust and said that Andrew Bailey's responses were like 'a burglar blaming the police for not arresting them' @SteveBakerHW also robust in speaking up for his constituents and said the public feeling was, with @TheFCA they get 'justice delayed. justice denied'

. @rushanaraali - having been on several @CommonsTreasury said she'd heard any of these excuses before. Asked how many senior perpetrators have gone to jail on @theFCA Bailey's watch. Also asked if as Governor of @bankofengland Bailey could be trusted to 'speak truth to power?

One of Andrew Bailey's answers to @rushanaraali that revealed a potential tension between @bankofengland and @downingstreet if he is shamefully confirmed as Governor was when he said on #Brexit 'free trade is a much better scenario to be in than a #WTO scenario'

Ending Tread - all in all, encouraging session @CommonsTreasury today as MPs honesty appeared to be on the side of victims. BUT keep the pressure up as together we can get justice for others
