Talking first about the trial of a 'goal attainment framework' within the #NDIS - that is to ensure that participants 'life goals' are 'clear, realistic and measurable'

This is subjective. Participant's goals should be their business only #Estimates #Auspol
The addition of 'clear, realistic and measurable' is new to the #NDIS lexicon

How is the #NDIS going to measure someone's life goals with respect to relationships? Sex Ed? Etc

As a disabled person on the NDIS pathway this is very important to me, and to many others #estimates
Will there be any impact on participants funding if the NDIA determines a participant's goal is 'unclear', 'unrealistic' or 'unmeasurable'? This is EXTREMELY important #Estimates #Auspol
The agency says no - good.

So is there any impact if the agency or a planner or an LAC determines that a participant's goal is 'unclear', 'unrealistic' or 'unmeasurable'?

If no, then what is the point of these new terms? #Estimates #Auspol
What problem are the NDIA / @NDIS trying to solve in implementing these new terms in relation to participant's goals?

They are just "looking for ways to measure the success of the scheme" #estimates #auspol #NDIS
What burning question were they trying to solve? How unclear, unrealistic and unmeasurable were participant's goals?

I've asked them to take on notice any correpsondence relating to the initiation of this trial so we can get to the bottom of WHY #estimates #auspol #ndis
Specifically - which stakeholders requested clarity on this issue? The agency has flagged that it was an issue stakeholders have raised.

NOTE: The NDIS is supposed to be for disabled people. Stakeholders usually mean 'providers' #estimates #auspol #ndis
As we've already established, participants have experienced what is known as the '3 goal' rule when dealing with planners despite there being no legislative basis for participants only being allowed to have 3 goals #NDIS #estimates #auspol
So on that basis - what work is the agency doing to ENSURE that planners in the trial site are aware that the setting of goals, even if they're not deemed to be 'clear, realistic and measurable' has NO IMPACT on participant's funding #Estimates #auspol #ndis
Back on - following on from the line of questioning @polley_helen just raised re: @Cronulla_Sharks receiving #NDIS funding through an ILC grant. There are pockets across Australia that lack services such as most of Northern WA #Estimates #AusPol
It's critical that #NDIS provides a feedback mechanism to services and providers so that they have a better chance of successfully receiving funding through ILC process - people in regional/rural areas whether #Tasmania #NT or #WA all deserve access to services & supports #Auspol
On to Transport: Let’s say you want to try out a local dance class. But you need a bit of support to be able to take part.

Providing you have funding for dance classes in your plan, you can pay for the support worker to attend the class with you #Estimates #Auspol #NDIS
BUT under these new transport rules you can't pay for your support worker's transport to that class with you UNLESS you attend a special dance class run by a specialist disability service provider i.e. your provider is also the one taking you to the class #estimates #auspol #ndis
So basically, the current arrangements make it very difficult for disabled people to use their plans to take part in their community if they need a support worker to do so which is, kinda the whole point of the #NDIS...

#Estimates #AusPol
Minister confirms the Govt will table their response to the Tune Review next week and potentially a draft for amendments to the act - advocates, disabled people have been waiting for this for a long time #Auspol #Estimates #NDIS
