It’s truly disappointing to me, as a Black woman and someone who is fiercely supposed to bigotry and hatred of all kinds, that more attention isn’t given to the offline abuse suffered by people on this campaign and, more importantly, the millions affected by moderate policies.
I’m thinking abt unprecedented deportations, I’m thinking about generations of my family in midwestern post-industrial decline due to bad trade deals, I’m thinking abt undischargable student debt, I’m thinking abt millions incarcerated for marijuana offenses— all backed by Biden.
This moment is about judgment. We need a president who took an ethical stand when it mattered. Who fought to protect folks against predatory banks and draconian criminal justice policies & right wing dog whistles about poverty. Not someone repeatedly on the wrong side of history.
I want a president who knew it was a woman’s right to choose before Roe v Wade, becuase I can trust him to protect new threats to my freedom we haven’t even imagined yet.

I want a president who spent his youth fighting segregation, not one who eulogized a segregationist.
I want a president who looked at the facts and voted against going into Iraq.

I want a president who looked at the facts and knew that NAFTA was going to destroy America’s heartland— the part of the country that gave us Motown and some of our richest labor history.
I want a president who doesn’t opportunistically or selectively quote King, but who has lived his life aggressively pursuing racial justice AND economic justice, and who had had the freedom to do so becuase he doesn’t take money from those who oppose our economic uplift.
I want a president who treats climate change like the existential threat that it is— not someone who harangues young people who beg him desperately to fight for the future of this planet.

I want a president who believes healthcare is a HUMAN RIGHT. Who would leave no one behind
I want a president who has been fighting for me since before I was born. And who won’t give up once an election cycle ends, or the photo opportunity disappears.

That president is Bernie.

This is a once in a generation opportunity. Let’s seize it.
