Unless you really live in the right-wing echochamber, it is hard to fully appreciate just what this whole thing looks like to Trump and others that are all foxed up.

But let me try to paint a picture in as concise a way as I can...

But if you look through lens that Fox News/right-wing media have created (lens Trump sees through): The virus is not a threat. The fear is being manufactured as a result of collaboration between Democrats, the media and the deep state in order to tank the economy and hurt Trump.

RE: Not a threat -- Part of reason Trump keeps saying flu kills thousands/year is because he is repeating the main argument that right-wing media have been using to downplay coronavirus. It's intuitive if you don't think about science or trendlines, neither of which Trump uses.

RE deep state/media/Democrats collaborating -- After downplaying it, most of what right-wing media focus on the idea that all of the hype is solely intended to scare people, tank the market AND bait Trump into doing things that will give them fodder to keep the story moving.

And then you start getting into the really whacky shit. Like Fox hosts (Lou Dobbs, who Trump absolutely loves) arguing that the Chinese gov't perhaps built this as a weapon. Tucker and others have gone that path too.

And then finally, there is one more obstacle. If you sit in the right-wing echochamber, you will walk away with the impression that this virus is going to go away all by itself pretty soon.

Sorta the way they argue against global warming by citing geologic temperature cycles.

Bottom line is: Trump is foxed up. Fox hasn't changed yet and shows no signs of it. So, Trump will only further entrench.

Eventually, the warnings will start to materialize. At that point, he won't respond to address the harms. He'll get worse, because the Fox/rwm media will.
