This is jaw-dropping. The Trump administration is actively sabotaging efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in immigration courts.
Obviously the DOJ’s statement implicitly acknowledges that officials demanded the CDC signs be taken down. But for those asking, a source sent me the directive itself. Yes, it was real.
Here is the directive, which the Department of Justice now says should not have been issued. EOIR is the Executive Office for Immigration Review, an office of the DOJ.
For the folks who asked me (1) if this was real and (2) why I didn't immediately post the directive:

1. I promise I would not tweet something so explosive without verifying it myself!
2. I had to make sure I could publish the directive without burning my source.
Update #2: The acting Chief Immigration Judge is now directing immigration courts to put up CDC signs that explain how to identify symptoms of coronavirus and stop its spread. A complete reversal from yesterday, when he ordered these signs taken down.
