Antibiotic-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae strains are on the rise since the introduction of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate #vaccine in 2010: contagionlive.com/news/antibioti…
Older people who are routinely receiving Pneumococcal vaccine are more antibiotic resistant. Predictably, the conventional solution to the problem is to develop more vaccines.
What these people fail to understand, or maybe they understand and don't want to admit it, that ANY pathogenic bacteria can cause pneumonia. Pneumonia is not germ-specific, it occurs when the lungs are weakened and the pathogen overwhelms the immune system.
But the powers that be continue to add new bacteria to the pneumococcal vaccine. The latest is Pneumovax 23 for adults. As the number of serotypes increases in the vaccine, the number of pneumonias caused by other bacteria also rises.
