The coronavirus is causing a demand crash. People are purchasing fewer goods and services.

You treat a demand crash by putting spending money in the pockets of people who will spend it. Poor and working class Americans.

You cannot cure a demand crisis by rewarding suppliers.

If the problem is that people aren’t buying, it doesn’t help to prop up the people who do the selling.

We have an economic crisis forming which can only be best treated by pumping money into the pockets of the people Republicans loathe helping.

Trump looted the treasury to further enrich the already rich.

He used up much of the federal government’s stimulus gunpowder on taking money OUT of the economy.

The rich park their money. The poor spend it.

We are rushing headlong toward a point where the only choice to stave off a recession is to pour federal stimulus directly into the pockets of the least economically advantaged Americans.

Republicans hate nothing more.

That’s going to be a problem.

Bookmark this. Give it a month. Maybe less.

The pitched battle in Washington will be between Democrats recommending drastic spending measures to prop up poor and working class Americans while Trump’s White House and Republicans argue for tax breaks for businesses.
Italy just suspended mortgage payments for six months.

We will need that level of drastic, systemic stimulus to both save the vulnerable from financial pain and maintain the economy through what will be a long slow pandemic and recovery.

Repubs hate little more than that idea.
