Schools provide a sense of normalcy that many families in our community - incl. hospital workers & law enforcement – rely on. Also, there is a need for continuity for the 61,000+ students who receive free or reduced meals at school that are their main source of nutrition.
Based on current state & local guidance, schools will reopen after Spring Break on March 23. Both @OrangeCoFL & @citybeautiful stated spring break camps & youth activities are also continuing as planned. During the break, custodial crews will clean schools/offices.
If you have flu-like symptoms, follow @cdc guidelines: immediately isolate, contact medical professional for possible testing, & notifying school or workplace. @DohOrange opened a Coronavirus Call Center at 407-723-5004. Wash your hands often, w/ soap for 20 secs.
We're prepared to implement an instructional continuity plan in the event that the situation worsens and temporary school closures become necessary. As a digital district, we will be able to provide continuous instruction on Canvas, w/ textbooks on Launchpad.
With the help of community partners, the district has hotspots available for any student who does not have internet access.
The district continues to closely monitor the situation and is keeping families updated through Connect Orange messages home as well as on ocps.net at the “Health Advisory” icon. Image
