Testing + selective quarantining cuts the Gordian knot between the 2 extremes
We do know:
- early quarantining/distancing works really, really well for covid-19 & Spanish Flu
- there is risk of second, third, and more waves
What we do need to figure out is how to massively ramp up testing — including of people *not* showing signs of flu, otherwise we are going to over-quarantine, which is a real risk
There is a strong common global interest here
The sooner we can radically increase testing, the sooner people can go back to work, kids can go to school, and we can return to normalcy
