I’ve been in touch with an intensivist at a Seattle hospital with one of the highest numbers of COVID-19 admissions in the US.

They’ve been too exhausted to post much themselves, so I am conveying some of what I’ve been told, which is… eye-opening. To say the least. /1
The Seattle situation isn’t quite at Lombardy levels yet… but it’s getting there.

First of all regarding the clinicians. None are sleeping more than a couple hrs a night. Everyone is utterly exhausted. My colleague has seen so many people die as to have become totally numb. /2
It’s also nearing Status Lombardosus with regard to resources. They haven’t run out of ventilators (yet), but every single ICU bed in Seattle metro is full. And the onslaught shows no signs of stopping. They’ve run out of other things as well. /3

Eastman is in a three-way Dem primary with @Gladys4Congress and @Ann_Ashford. But @karaforcongress has an edge in name ID. She was the @NebraskaDems’ nominee in 2018. She lost to @DonJBacon by about two percentage points, essentially in Sarpy County’s Republican-leaning firewall.
One question many have asked about @karaforcongress was whether she might bank more toward the center this time to try to appeal more to moderates in both major parties.

At least in the primary so far, the answer is no.

Carolyn Strom walks toward the courthouse, heading up to Court of Appeal. The court is to decide if Strom’s Facebook post criticizing her grandfather's palliative care violated the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association guidelines. The hearing is underway.
Up first is Carolyn Strom’s lawyer is Marcus Davies. He says it’s been a long road to now. Strom’s post was made four years ago. She posted on Facebook, and a discussion ensued. Davies says a staff member at the facility photocopied the comments and distributed them to staff.
Then came the “manufactured” complaint to the SRNA . The whole process resulted in a $26,000 penalty for Strom. Davies says this is a case of a grieving granddaughter, who was also a health care professional, making a personal post. Davies notes that one comment made by Strom
