My absolute favorite bar in DC, @allsoulsbar, announces that they are closing until the Coronavirus situation calms down.

"The very thing we do is bring people together and right now that seems like a bad idea, especially with booze involved. Please be careful out there."
"Please be safe, be kind, and do your part to end this nonsense."
It's an act of leadership and courage to voluntarily close for Coronavirus concerns, considering the financial implications for @allsoulsbar.

And on St Patrick's Day weekend too.

I believe this makes @allsoulsbar the first in DC to voluntarily and preemptively close in response to Coronavirus. Searched and could not find another.

The Army is ALWAYS looking for dentists.

Might be a long-shot but as a longtime dentist Rep. Paul Gosar might find an age waiver if he was inclined to join.

Actually this reminds me of a story about the only military dentist to get the Medal of Honor...
Ben Salomon was an infantryman and later a dentist.

As a 29 year old (this would have been 1944) he had been commissioned and then sent to the Marianas Islands to fill in for a wounded surgeon.

A losing Japanese commander ordered waves of suicide attacks...
While treating a patient, Saloman began to observe Japanese soldiers approaching his casualty collection point

He grabbed a rifle and shot an attacker before resuming care. He then clubbed two Japanese soldiers, bayoneted one more, and shot a fourth one.

How is Russia trying to boost Sen. Sanders' campaign?

Over the past six weeks, Russian public messaging has shifted to mirror pro-Sanders talking points first used in the last presidential campaign.

His campaign points out Russia just wants to create chaos.

They seem similar. But if you read closely, you'll spot some key differences.

And it's in those differences, my friends, that we can see just how fear & misinformation are spread.

Why are many people worried about the new #coronavirus, when the regular flu kills tens of thousands a year?

The concern is that it could be something like the 1918 influenza pandemic (aka the “Spanish Flu”).

It's the huge spike on this chart of US mortality rates:
The 1918 flu is estimated to have ultimately infected over 500 million people—almost a third of the world's population at the time—and killed an estimated 50 million. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
Of course, #COVID19 is nowhere near that bad yet. The concern is that (a) it's spreading rapidly, and that (b) it may have a high case-fatality rate.

I am *not an expert* on these matters, and our knowledge on this is evolving rapidly, but here's what I understand so far:
