Every single person needs to read this:

1/. I work for a small restaurant in Denver. When news broke this morning about the closures, everyone began to cry. We shook with fear.

How will bills get paid? What about rent? What if I have to afford having this virus? #DemCast

2/. These were not tears of selfishness. This was not whiny anger at cancelled plans. This wasn't any of those things that people keep accusing restaurants of in trying to remain open here.

This was sheer terror and panic, because we live with no social safety programs.

3/. In this country, the impact of these closures is just as great as the contagion impact of #coronavirus.

Thousands of people lost their job today. More thousands will as the week goes on. And NO ONE is trying to lessen that impact.

4/. This is not letting school out for a couple of weeks, people. This is not "Enjoy your vacation, come back next month!".

These people could very well lose their homes. They could lose their lives.

5/. We must have IMMEDIATE action to address this. We cannot only focus on the impact of contagion. We cannot address that impact while ignoring the others. @GovofCO

6/. I am calling on every legislator now.

Do not rest until this is fixed. Work without ceasing to ensure this country's workers are safe.

We cannot demand that people sacrifice their lives for the safety of a society that won't even care for them. @BernieSanders @AOC

7/. November is too late. Hell, next week is too late. We can't wait to vote out this corrupt administration who's only priority is special interests.

Workers must be protected NOW as we protect everyone else. #CoronavirusOutbreak @ASlavitt @TeamPelosi #FamiliesFirstAct #DemCast

If this doesn’t show the need for Universal Basic Income, I don’t know what will.

With #UBI we could have easily shut down everything weeks ago! Yet we had to wait as long as possible out of fear of losing our homes or not paying our bills.
