Imagine if World War I - or the Spanish Flu epidemic - were happening in the social media era

Millions died because governments had monopolies on information flow and dissemination, they could hide how bad it really was, and keep going on the same paths

They can't do that today
Remember - the Spanish Flu is called the Spanish flu because the warring powers censored news reports about the virus

Spain was neutral, so they didn't

In reality the Spanish Flu started in Kansas and spread through American military camps
China tried to pull the same stunt that the great powers did during World War I

Censor information, punish whistleblowers, etc.

That worked for maybe six weeks, and the Chinese government is the most powerful authoritarian government in the world

It's not panic—it's preparation

If Democrat messaging is "#COVID19 is a massive problem, we need to get out in front of it"

And Trump's messaging is "flu kills way more people, this will go away"

then #MAGA will get crushed if things go sideways

like they already have in Italy
Trump will not be punished for overreacting

But if we get an ICU crunch - like Italy/China/SK have already had -

then think about the video clips that will hit in November

Trump saying "this will go away," and a quick cut of overwhelmed ICUs
FDR won three elections DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION

Voters will forgive a lot if the President is providing aggressive leadership to solve a crisis

But they won't forgive Trump downplaying #COVID19 if it blows up
