Since #California is #shelteringinplace for #COVID19 here tips for how to survive based on my 21 day quarantine after returning from W. Africa

1. Develop a daily routine/schedule
2. Limit time on TV/Internet dedicated to COVID-19
- Check news 1-2x/day
- Follow a few sources
3. Exercise
- Go for a walk/run, try an online yoga class or video
4. Schedule FaceTime or Skype calls with friends/loved ones (particularly the elderly)
5. Pick up a new hobby
-Cooking, painting, take an online course in something you always wanted to learn (@coursera)
6. If nervous/anxious try to meditate.
- You can use apps like @Headspace or @calm
7. Have virtual "dates" via @Zoom or @Skype
- coffee, drinks, dinner, movie nights
8. Organize that room/closet you have always wanted to
9. Play online games with friends (i.e. @wordsproblems)

On 3/3/20 Chinese NHC issued version 7 of "Diagnosis and Treatment of Novel Coronavirus PNA" Info below
1. In confirmed cases (PCR) had serology with IgG/IgM
2. Most new have IgM + 3-5 days after onset
3. Recovery of IgG is 4 times or more higher than acute phase
4. ECMO indications for Fi02 >90% and O2 index <80 mmHg for > 3 hrs, airway plateau pressure >35
5. CRRT for significantly ill patients
6. For severe and critically ill patients with elevated IL-6 and extensive lung disease recommend tocilizumab (ongoing trial in China)
7. #Tocilizumab does NOT prevent infix with #COVID19 it helps mediate the cytokine storm from IL-6
Some exclusion are ALT/AST > 5x ULN, active TB, or certain fungal infections
8. Children with severe or critical cases consider IVIG

Things to do as we work on #Preparedness
1. Companies should look at sick leave and infection control policies
2. Protocols for those with mild disease to be quarantined and treated at home
3. Develop telemedicine capabilities so patients are not inundating hospitals
4. Develop remote work capabilities
5. Encourage sick workers to stay home
6. Expand surveillance capacity
7. Expand laboratory capacity and capabilities with development of possible rapid diagnostics
8. Support public health agencies and contact tracing
9. Invest in R&D for therapeutics/vaccine
10. Education of the public on infection control practices (i.e. hand hygeine, cough into your elbow, bump elbows)
11. Work with healthcare systems to procure PPE, ventilators, gowns, gloves, and masks
12.Stay calm

1) Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 doesn’t have the clinical capacity to deal with #COVID19. Early evidence suggests 10-20% of patients would require ICU admission & 29% developed ARDS. @TweetPaddy had posed this question:
2) In Lombardy 🇮🇹 for instance, the precrisis total ICU capacity was approx. 720 beds (2.9% of total hospital beds at a total of 74 hospitals). We don’t even have a quarter of that number!

Y’all remember that I was active in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria in 2017.

EVERYTHING the Trump administration did to your fellow citizens in Puerto Rico, he’s doing again with coronavirus — to all of us.

The lying. Lack of preparedness. Blaming the victims. The corruption. Donald Trump tweet from 13 September 2018: “3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000...”
Hong Kong and Vietnam have done an incredible job at limiting the progress of #COVID19. Remarkable, given their proximity to, and travel with China.

They rapidly deployed the WHO’s recommended testing kit for widespread testing, with self-quarantine.

The US? We really messed up Screenshot of a news headline: “[Op-ed] Why Vietnam has been the world’s number 1 country in dealing with coronavirus<br /> <br /> While other countries have dithered, Vietnam’s response to Covid-19 has been swift, sharp and effective”

First check to see if they bothered to add any variability whatsoever in the model they are using to supposedly report actual numbers from a complex system.

The mortality rate they want you to report is the - 0 day rate: Today's Confirmed Death total minus Today's Confirmed Case total.

This has not varied outside of 1/10th of 1% in the last 5 prints.

But even a minor adjustment of a few days in the mortality rate paints an entirely different picture
