1. In Reza #Zarrab sequel, defendant #Halkbank, #Turkey's state controlled bank's attorneys King & Splaulding filed a motion to withdraw. Declaration says Robert Cary of William & Connolly filed appearance but I haven't seen it Cary handles attorney malpractice and white collar.

2. I don't practice in criminal court. A long time ago a competent criminal defense tax attorney told me that if you're the lawyer who was around when the alleged crime occurred it was likely the Govt would seek to get a ruling the attorney-client privilege did not apply.

3. In that case the former attorney could be compelled to testify against their recently former client. Possible that K&S was served with a grand jury subpoena or knows it's coming soon.

4. Update: Don't think I ever saw a judge filed an email to counsel but perhaps Judge Berman is just as puzzeled as I was about Cary's non-appearance appearance.
