Over the last few years, I've been deliberately transitioning most of talks I give (and as many meetings as I can) to virtual, low-carbon presentations. Here are a few fast + easy hacks I use to up the quality of a video class, presentation, or meeting. thread/
1/ Move your camera to at or slightly above eye level. If you're using a laptop, raise it on books. Here's what a big difference this makes. I took these two pictures right now, just seconds apart. It's real.
2/ Make sure there is light on your face. It's as simple as facing a window or moving a table lamp in front of you. Here's the difference it makes.

I get it-climate change is scary. We feel like we have some sort of control over it when we make a choice to not fly, not have a child, not eat animal products. And certainly those can reduce carbon emissions. But they address only a fraction of the issue.

In light of the recent outbreak of COVID-19, we are all being advised to stay in and avoid in-person gatherings. However, this pandemic does not mean the problems of the capitalist system are staying quietly home-rather, this moment of crisis exacerbates hardship.

It is imperative that we not allow the responsibility of social distancing to stop our work. Therefore our coordinating committee has devised a set of plans and recommendations to help weather this crises and stem it's effects. For starters we are stressing meeting online only.
Our March GM will be a zoom conference call on COVID-19 w/ presentations from public health experts, analysis of how capitalism has failed to address the crisis, and organizing for mutual aid, eviction moratoriums and single-payer healthcare

First, where did Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan plan come from? (George Soros, perhaps? Foreign-funded radicals?) No. It came from Albertans. A volunteer panel led by @andrew_leach spoke w 1K residents in-person and heard from 25K+ online. 2/24
The panel also engaged with 350+ stakeholders and met w Aboriginal Peoples in three cities, and received hundreds of detailed submissions from NGOs, industry groups and others. 3/24
