My friend and former coworker, Carl Quinn, has just died of #Covid_19 complications. So very sad.

This sadness is made all the worse knowing that his wife is quarantined for 14 days.

My heart goes out to his family.

Mouring the lost of 3 coworkers so far in 2020. 😢
He was at a small tech conference in Colorado several weeks ago. He became ill and tested positive on Saturday. Two others from the conf tested positive, one in the hospital with pneumonia.
He was young (~50), healthy, and had no underlying conditions. #COVIDー19 #COVID

2/ taken to a room for temperature test no fever
went through a question list 4 symptom history，if i met anyone from high risk country China italy
i told them i was in Prague 4 film festival & met many people around world.
but seems they are about letting me go.
3/ airport medicals are calling authority to ask about my measurement，go home or stay for test maybe…
seems phones got difficulty to go through…
personally i wish to stay and have test asap.
but i need to respect their decision.

Analysis results of 25,000+ lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wuhan till Feb 18: epidemiological characteristics and non-pharmaceutical Intervention effects. The key results are summarized below and hope they are useful for the strategies in US and others medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
1. In the absence of intervention (before 1/23), the effective reproductive number R=3.8>>1, and dropped to R=0.3 after the massive intervention on Feb 1(centralized quarantine and treatment of all confirmed and suspected cases). This intervention worked.
2. Various sensitivity analyses were done and the conclusion holds.

Finally authorities are putting Mazandaran province on quarantine: only fuel and food trucks are allowed. This late, its effectiveness will be limited.

The same authorities have had argued for quarantine to be "non-scientific" and "from middle ages".
