Now the "Lady" herself is in custody and is on trial.
Indonesia:
The bloody persecution of alleged communists under the Suharto regime killed around half a million Chinese in the mid-1960s.
But even today those "events" are largely taboo in Indonesia.
But English is now "in" again. In any case, it is noticeable during these protest weeks that the demonstrating youth make themselves heard again in fluent English
As part of British India, the country was administered in Calcutta for decades.
It was the massive posting of Indian officials and migration from the subcontinent that subsequently contributed significantly to anti-Indian sentiment in Burma; some of it persists to the present day.
Love for China is also quickly reaching its limits, especially now again. Nevertheless, it is not without a certain irony that the former Anglophone Burma is now increasingly leaning towards China.
