Watching Thor: Love and Thunder is like guzzling down a raw hamburger and strawberry smoothie that hasn’t been thoroughly puréed yet, but much less satisfying. 🧋🐮
How could the newest and most anticipated entry in phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe go so sideways?🤔
This undercooked action comedy pork cutlet stars Thor as he rescues some kidnapped children from the evil Gore the God-Butcher,
With help from his ex-girlfriend Natalie Portman who now is also a Thor. #ThorLoveAndThunder#Thor
Oh, & Lady Thor has cancer
Plus, there’s Russel Crowe as Zeus
a badly CGI'd magical kid & his child soldiers,
some gay rocks, & a couple of screaming goats
All handled less subtlety than an episode of Captain Planet🌎🦸
Love & Thunder is essentially a sequel to the wonderfully metal Thor Ragnorak, a fantastic Thor film & one of the best of phase 3 of the MCU.
That film kicked butt & made almost $900 million at the box office. so it made sense for Kevin Feige to hire Taika Waititi to do a sequel
However, from the very start of the announcement of Love and Thunder, cracks started to emerge.
The film had been announced as an adaptation of the controversial Mighty Thor comics, where Thor is a toxic white male that gets replaced by a righteous white karen named Jane Foster.
while that comic received awards & media attention
it remains a highly divisive comic to the fandom
didnt help when Waititi announced the project
he knelt in front of Portman to give her a prop Mjolnir like an unworthy peasant before a queen #mcu#marvel
Then the film synopsis got leaked & rumors started to flow,
The gist is that the focus of the post-Endgame MCU would be about diversity & replacing the traditional heroes like Hawkeye with younger, more equitable versions,
which, if you’ve paid attention, is what’s happened.
the rumors said Thor would be replaced by Portman.
The story would involve helping the new female King of Asgard find her Queen -which didn’t make it to the final cut- and much virtue signaling would be had by all.
Disney took what was likely to be a controversial and divisive film; and tried to make it as bland and appealing to a general global audience as possible.
If you've seen the movie u might know what I mean.
Love & Thunder is on paper the wokest entry in the MCU,
w/ every possible social justice element but toned down from an 11 to a 3
reason we're seeing opioids lawsuits being overturned is not about the validity of what the companies have done but how they've been sought after by AG's & litigators
TDLR: Public Nuisance lawsuits are IMO garbage that works by intimidation & not merit
like i said yesterday i get why people are upset about roe or celebrating it, I would hope that people might try to meet in the middle & find some balance
I think that will happen longterm still, but not sure it would be places like Twitter
Most Americans want abortion restrictions for late term, open for the 1rst & are mixed on the 2nd
they hate the idea of abortion but want it to be open for rape & incest
