️⃣ Imagine a law that allows a government to "make any provision that could be made by an Act of Parliament (including modifying this Act)"
️⃣ I'm not sure if people realise just how dangerous that power is. They can do literally anything with it. It needs to be voted down.
️⃣ There's a good reason why this is referred to as Henry VIII power.
️⃣ That single power (to do anything with zero oversight) turns the UK into a dictatorship, effective immediately after the vote. Game over
️⃣ Apparently it's foolish to prevent a government from grabbing Henry VIII powers & establishing a dictatorship. 😒
️⃣ With something that dangerous, you don't get appeased with sneaky alterations to the wording. You bat it away in disgust. Immediately. 😡
️⃣ But wait... The act has a specified time limit, right? Wrong. Use the power granted by the Act & modify it away. "What time limit?"
