It's Monday, so I thought it would be a good time to talk about Japanese poop. 💩 Thread!

Probably the most common word for poop is うんこ (unko) or うんち (unchi). Both technically slang, but うんち is cuter imo!

In Osaka Dialect, you might hear 糞 (baba). This is another slang word for poop that kids will sometimes use.

"Poop" 糞 (baba) sounds suspiciously similar to a slang word for "grandma," 婆 (baba). Not touching that topic.

A more formal word for poop is 大便 (daiben). Literally:

大 = large
便 = excrement

Large Excrement!

It makes you wonder... if there is a big excrement, does that mean there is a small excrement too? 🤔

There is! It's 小便 (shouben). Broken up, you get:

小 = small
便 = excrement

Small excrement = your pee pee

On a Japanese toilet, you'll often see 大 / 小 on the flush handle. It refers to whether you made a 大便 or 小便.

Poop bags (for dogs, etc) in Japanese are so incredibly Japanese.

マナー袋 (manaa bukuro) - manner bags

"Poop bag" in Japanese can also be...

うんち袋 (unchi bukuro), i.e. "unchi bag."

エチケットパック (echiketto pakku), i.e. "etiquette pack."

There are many words for "poop bag" too.

Don't get confused by エチケット袋 (echiketto bukuro). This (usually) refers to a barf bag!

Fun fact, in Japan you can get poop bags with a paper layer so you can just dump the insides, and the poop, right in your toilet.

うんこ製造機　(unko seizouki) refers to somebody who doesn't contribute anything to society. Let's break that word down.

うんこ製造機 ↓

うんこ = poop
製 = make
造機 = machine that constructs things

Literally a "poop making machine," aka a "useless member of society."

It's pretty mean, and slangy, so DEFINITELY don't just send うんこ製造機 over and over again to the President, for example. Sad!
