Last night, the @CommerceGov said it would add a citizenship question to the #2020Census. In theory, it’s about getting an accurate count for purposes of the Voting Rights Act. In reality, it’s a racist xenophobic move with severe long-term consequences. commerce.gov/sites/commerce…
The census is an incredibly important tool that touches so many aspects of American lives. It’s the foundational data for everything from voting rights for black people, median earnings for women versus men, fertility rates, and more.

Since so many of you are new Peeps of mine... and because I'm feeling like tweeting about it... Domestic Violence Awareness Month holds significance for me for very personal reasons... 20 years ago, on November 8th, 1998, my father murdered my mother, then killed himself.
My father wasn't "physically" abusive to me while I was growing up, not in the way you'd imagine, He did like to choke me when he was really angry. I just didn't realize that this wasn't normal behavior. At some point when a friend witnessed it in horror, I figured it out.
He struggled with a number of issues that could have led to this horrendous, selfish act. He had a traumatic brain injury, he could have had CTE, he definitely suffered with depression and mental illness of some kind.

Not one of them is an excuse for what he did that day.

1/ As Domestic Violence Awareness month is approaching and my feed is filled with the #Metoo and #WhyIDidntReport stories. I’m inspired to share a little of my own story.
I don’t remember exactly when the abuse started, mine or hers.
2/
There are fuzzy memories of loud voices and her crying. There was always fear.
I must have been about 6 the first time he forced himself on me. I later learned that he told her he was drunk and thought that I was her.
3/ He was often drunk but his threats when it was over proved he knew exactly who I was. He said that he’d hurt her, I believed him. I’d seen the bruises and the way she shrank when he was near. He said that nobody would believe me.

Tragically what the #CorruptGOP doesn't seem to get is that because they are not dealing in facts, & they are propagating falsehoods to their base, an entire generation of Republican voters, workers, apparachik's at every level; the U.S.A. loses ultimately. There are
People basing real decisions, at real jobs- both public & private sector-on false information. We have the most powerful military, biggest Economy, in the most industrialized nation in the world making Domestic & Foreign Policy based on fasle information.
This can & will end only one of two ways. Either we reverse course before catastrophic consequence or we experience what could be the most catastrophic multi-national event that has occurred since WW2 & the most grave consequences since our Nation's inception nearly 300 yrs ago.

I don't know the reason @CharlieDee71 was fired from @PGHCityPaper after being told he can't write about Rep. Daryl Metcalfe.

I DO however know some facts for CERTAIN about Metcalfe:
1. Wrote a facebook post calling another state rep "a lying homosexual"
2. Held up a PA resolution declaring October "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" because it "had language in it that brought men into the situation" and was therefore part of a homosexual agenda
3. Founded an organization opposed to birthright citizenship. Born here? MAYBE NO CITIZENSHIP FOR YOU!
4. Called veterans who believed "the leftist propaganda of global warming and climate change" traitors to their oath
