1/ I’ve argued from day 1, Trump knew Sessions would recuse. Sessions said so in his confirmation hearings. Knowing this, Trump nominated Rosenstein. He already intended to fire Comey. He expected this would lead to a Special Counsel appointed by Rosenstein. So why?
2/ Imagine you’re Trump. Here you sit with the power to appoint the associate AG that could appoint a person outside of your control to investigate you. If you appoint a friend you can control the process & insure your safety. So if you fear an investigation, then why Rosenstein?
3/ Keep in mind the Republicans control the appointment process. Almost anyone you appoint would get confirmed. There is literally no need to allow for this yet he did. The question is why?!?
4/ Reflect in the famous interaction from the debate. Trump says, “Because you’d be in jail.” But what was it Hillary had just said? It was a good thing Trump wasn’t in charge of justice. Why? Because of his “temperament”.
5/ What was her claim? It was that if Trump had control of the Justice Department he’d impulsively & vindictively use it to go after people. She assumed he would be as corrupt as Obama but with a bad temper. She never considered he would let justice work freely & independently.
6/ They misunderstood Trump. Not surprising since he intentionally baited them using this projected image of himself. No, @HillaryClinton, his temperament aside @realDonaldTrump intends to allow justice to descend on you and Obama. Just naturally.
7/ So back to why would Trump appoint Tosenstein and put his fate in the hands of an Obama era hand? One reason is that once his innocence is proclaimed there will be no question if it was engineered or contrived.
8/ The second reason is much more significant. Make no mistake Trump intended that during his Presidency Obama/Hillary would be investigated and if appropriate prosecuted. Only way to do this with integrity and credibility was through an independent counsel.
9/ So he risked himself and used the allure of his own destruction to create the environment in which a special Counsel could be appointed. This wasn’t a failure of Sessions or a surprise to Trump. No he engineered this exactly this way with a purpose and an intent.
10/ The preconditions for what is to come are nearly in place. I expect the “investigations” will turn their focus on Obama era corruption in 2018. And yes Hillary I would consider the possibility that you could end up in jail. Imagine her in a cell pondering what happened?😃End.
