A particular kind of elitism enshrouds hard leftist circles today. It is unfortunate that a significant portion of those who have been afforded a higher education, & who have attained more information than the average American, have little-to-no interest in constructive activity.
There also seems to be few who actually have an understanding of what Socialism is. Most just seem drawn to the feeling of empowerment that comes with associating yourself with the “radical left” of the past. There’s little talk of principled action that leads to tangible change.
There’s no mentioning of educational dialogue with working class and/or poor people (let alone organizing), but rather nonstop berating and non-constructive (and sometimes counterintuitive) commentary that rarely moves outside of the digital space (echo chambers).
Too many hard leftists are egoists, more concerned with infighting (online) about who is more “pure” than being practical and supporting those who are actually out and about trying to do something, or at least sparking productive dialogue with those who are less informed.
