Here is what doesn’t make sense about the Bannon story from today.

According to Bannon and his counsel, after being served with today’s House committee subpoena, they contacted the WH and were advised to evade the subpoena...

1/
Ostensibly, the person they would have consulted would have been WH Counsel Don McGahn.

Just one wrinkle, both McGahn and Bannon have the same attorney.

So Bannon’s atty would have been having one client seek legal advice from another of his clients.

2/
That legal advice may or may not expose Bannon to legal jeopardy all his own.

An attorney can’t ethically represent both parties in that circumstance.

If his clients have even potentially conflicting interests, the atty has to drop one.

3/
I’m sure there will be much made of this and endless analysis but my snap take on it would be this:

Bannon didn’t seek legal advice from the WH; he asked Trump what he wanted him to do...

4/
...and in an ironic twist, what Donnie took as a submissive Bannon crawling back home might just turn out to be another nail in the obstruction coffin.

Assuredly, when called before Mueller’s grand jury, Bannon will be pressed about today’s stonewalling.

5/
If the above is correct, Bannon would be compelled to either perjure himself or cough up that Donnie told him to stonewall the House investigation in violation of a subpoena.

This is Stupid Watergate. These are not smart crooks... and they just keep digging that hole.
