1. For 2 yrs many of us, at great personal sacrifice, worked to uncover and report on the corruption and treason that is pervasive w Trump, his life, his campaign and now his regime. I don’t understand how Rachel Brand and others made the decision to quit and leave us vulnerable
2. Perhaps their health or relationships were suffering from the stress. Perhaps they were threatened and harassed. The one thing we know- they at least still had a salary from their position. Maybe they think that our Democracy will survive and after midterms or 2020 elections-
3 ...all will be well- and we will have a Democrats majority and we can begin to undo Team Treason’s damage. I wish I had the confidence that they do that everything can be unwound and in the meantime people won’t die from lack of healthcare or have their lives torn out from-
4. - under them as they are torn from their children’s arms as they are accosted by ICE as they walk their child to school. Many peoples lives have been and will continue to be irrevocably altered by cruel and irresponsible legislation and Executive Orders.
5. My hope when it wanes, like this morning, is this group on Twitter- fellow researchers, lawmakers, media, new friends, supporters, followers and those that I follow. We are Democracy in action. However, it only works if we are active participants outside of Twitter as well.
6. We must decide now what we are personally willing to sacrifice to keep our Democracy. Yes, we can comfortably resign and go work for someone else when the heat is on- we can sit at home when we should be marching because it’s too cold or too hot or our kids have a soccer game-
7. -I fear that if we don’t stand up now, we may not have another opportunity. Every day Trump and his team become more emboldened in dismantling life as we know it. The changes are exponentially adding up and it will be very difficult to reverse his judicial picks, as an example
8. I’m encouraged by the number of people who have stepped up to run for office-but let’s ask ourselves how we can help them. We have power on Twitter to let people know about their campaigns. Our voice can be amplified by retweeting and following them no matter their location.
9. Let’s each make a commitment to amplify our voices by retweeting notifications of marches, calls to congress and other calls to action. Let’s make our voices 1,000x louder than the opposition by retweeting good research and getting it out to your own followers-
10.- even if you only have 50 followers- one of your followers may have 1,500 and retweet it and amplify it even further. There will be a time very soon where you will be called to match. Not just for an hour or two... We may need sustained protests to unseat this regime...
11. We need to be ready. Get yourself prepared. Go through the intellectual conversation that you need to have with yourself to decide how important Democracy is to you and what will you do personally to ensure it exists.
12. Sadly, the majority of most of our family and friends are strangely apathetic- waiting for someone else to save them. We know better. Democracy is participatory. Show up to march, make calls, support Democrat candidates no matter their location and vote every single time!
13. Follow new people everyday, retweet good research, participate in conversations, DM w tips and leads and support the free press and independent researchers. Let’s bust Team Treason‼️
