We raised funds to support 100 families who are survivors of farmer suicides across Andhra and Telangana.

The reason for suicides among all the cases was debt. For e.g. In one particular region, there were
1 farmer who owed 2.4 lakhs
5 farmers who owed 3 lakhs
9 farmers who owed 4 lakhs
2 farmers who owed 4.5 lakhs
1 farmer who owed 4.8 lakhs
5 farmers who owed 5 lakhs
2 farmer who owed 6 lakhs
1 farmer who owed 7 lakhs
1 farmer who owed 10 lakhs
1 farmer who owed 9 lakhs
1 farmer who owed 15 lakh

are the same farmers who the government appointed committees to look into doubling the farmers income refer to as entreprenuers who form the back bone of the rural economy.
Unfortunately this is only on paper never implemented, because when these farmers go to the bank for a second loan since the crop loss, the banks refuse to give the loans due to an existing loan. The farmers are forced to borrow at a high interest rate from the money lenders and
thus get caught up in a vicious cycle of debt, the only way the farmer sees out is by committing suicide

Its a crime to be poor
Its a crime to be a farmer
Its a crime to be a small farmer
Its a crime to be a landless farmer
Its a crime to be a poor and landless farmer
What is not a crime is not paying the loans if you are filthy rich

As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data on global operations, an amount of Rs. 81,683 crore has been written-off (including compromise) by public sector banks (PSBs) in the financial year ended 31.3.2017
Bank Written-Off amount in crores as on Mar 2017
1 Allahabad Bank 2442
2 Andhra Bank 1,623
3 Bank of Baroda 4,348
4 Bank of India 7,346
5 Bank of Maharashtra 1,374
6 Canara Bank 5,545
7 Central Bank of India 2,396
8 Corporation Bank 3,574
9 Dena Bank 833
10 IDBI Bank Limited 2,868
11 Indian Bank 437
12 Indian Overseas Bank 3,066
13 Oriental Bank of Commerce 2,308
14 Punjab & Sind Bank 491
15 Punjab National Bank 9,205
16 Syndicate Bank 1,271
17 UCO Bank 1,937
18 Union Bank of India 1,264
19 United Bank of India 714
And while the farmers are named and shamed for not paying their loans, the RBI doesn't disclose the identity of the borrower due to Section 45E of 1934 Bank of India act.
