1) A couple notes on this whole Syrian Chemical Attack controversy that is somehow STILL going on: chemical weapons inspectors from the UN still haven't gotten to examine the site.
2) Yet this random jackass reporter from OAN is able to get in just fine so Russia can promote 'Hey, no chemical attacks! See?'
3) So let's hit this from the other angle. First off, supply. Belgium being Belgium fucked up royal and shipped Syria the materials to make Sarin.
4) Second, let's see what is NOT being denied.
5) That's the chemical weapon research facility that was hit in the strikes. What is Russia NOT doing? They're not coming out and saying, "Nooooo, that was a factory to produce baby formula and rainbows!"
6) Going back to supply, North Korea has been shipping chemical weapons to Syria. time.com/5178695/north-…
7) But let's just take a logical step back here. For chemical weapons, well, you don't just produce them on a whim in your basement. You need acid-resistant tubing, vials, etc. The kind of crap that Russia apparently couldn't send without being noticed, but North Korea could.
8) People claim if there WAS a chemical weapons attack, it must have been THE REBELS who did it! Ok, so, how did they make their chemical weapons? Where are their facilities? Apparently the manufacture of enough to cause some real damage takes a full manufacturing setup.
9) What is Russia not doing in its claims that Syrian rebels are using chemical weapons? Pointing to how they get them, where they get the materials, etc.
10) Chlorine gas used in chemical weapons is not the same as chlorine you get for your pool. Its a completely different compound that has to be created, and it has to be done on a massive enough scale. Russia has provided no evidence that the rebels have this kind of capability
11) But lets play devils advocate one moment. Just take a hot second here, and let's say this was set up by the rebels. Where would the EASIEST PLACE to get them be?
12) Who is the ONE GROUP that we have actual evidence that via malfeasance and sheer fucking idiocy they acquired the materials to make chemical weapons, and even had a chemical weapons facility even Russia hasn't denied that we just bombed into rubble?
13) Bashar FUCKING Assad's regime. Who isn't supposed to have chemical weapons.
14) Now, do we believe that Assad, who is 'winning so why would he use chemical weapons' somehow LOST chemical weapons somewhere? Were they stolen?
15) And even THEN, what is the delivery mechanism? Per the US and others, the chemical weapons were delivered by barrel bombs. Not a big stretch, from 2012 to 2017 70,000 barrel bombs were used by Assad's forces against civilian populations and rebels. thenational.ae/world/mena/ass…
16) The use of barrel bombs alone are considered a war crime, BTW.
17) A group of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft loaded with chlorine gas-filled barrel bombs fly over a civilian neighborhood where they have no fear of anti-air weapons shooting them out of the sky, light the barrels, and drop them, saturating the area for maximum damage.
18) Aaaaaaand what would the rebels who don't HAVE helicopters or fixed wing aircraft do? I have had it suggested that they literally drove a barrel bomb on a truck to a neighborhood, lit it, and ran. Without anyone stopping them. Without anyone video taping them.
19) Oh, and to cause that amount of damage, they'd have to do this a dozen times all at once. All over a neighborhood. With no one stopping them. Or videotaping them doing this.
