Shoutout to the children in soap operas for being so earnest and deep, and speaking in turn, in complete sentences. You seem to love nothing more than heart-to-hearts where you encourage your single parents to pursue their love interests. May you ever be your best selves.
The soap kids are so pure. They were so worried about not having a trinket to leave in the geocache box, and the girl gave her beloved necklace she needed to let go of for Reasons, and the boy understood the importance. I am totally shipping this blended family.
UGH! The wedding planner mom is now Very Upset that the man (gently and kindly) helped her boy pursue his rock climbing dreams. She is overprotective and freaks out. This may be the death knell, sadly. Will the boy's guitar performance at the talent show open his mom's heart?
These are the pure children.
This is the mom singing a song about pi. She is, self-proclaimed, "the biggest nerd. You don't even understand."
At the last second (just after he mentioned to the mom that he ASKED Steve to take him rock climbing (and thus was not "pushed")), the boy found enough confidence to play his song! Would this melt your heart?
Wait okay so I'm going to skip forward just a bit but STEVE'S EX-WIFE is shipping their relationship too. She just TOLD THE MOM and said she's "usually right about these things."
I never realized soaps were so wholesome.
The boy is now taking his terrified mom rockclimbing. "Keep going. Use your legs. Push, push - you're almost there!" He's such an encouraging tween son.
But I need to go back a bit because some Things Happened.
After the talent show, there was a hug.
But the hug was... a bit unclear. Was Steve actually going in for a kiss?
I mean, based on the lighting and music, I thought they were going to make out for sure.
I literally BROKE MY TOE on a boot on the floor trying to rush to the screen to get you guys a photo of the big first kiss.
(Does anyone have any advice for how to reduce a dislocated pinkie toe? It's oddly annoying and now it's swelling up.)
Anyhow the mom was able to think a lot about the hug while she brushed a horse. "I think Steve tried might've been trying to kiss me."
"Would you have liked that?" the Wise Stable Director asked.
No! Ew.
Really, though?!
Well. Yes. Yes, I think I want to kiss him.
Yes.
Ugh. I can't.
This whole thing is so up and down.
They kissed. She asked what his plans were for their long term relationship after they get home. He said to tell you the truth he wasn't thinking that far ahead. He just wanted to kiss again and let that kiss be enough. (Meaning he was open but didn't want expectations yet).
She is Not Happy.
But in Arrs & Crafts the boy made the girl a necklace (to replace the necklace she put in the geocache). They made clear this wasn't a romantic gesture but a thank you. She's going to help welcome him into high school in fall.
Oh no. The mom is slamming the truck. But not accepting Steve's apology. "There is nothing to be sorry for. We had fun. But now--back to reality." Steve, are you going to let this one go???
There is more math happening. The kids in the class the mom teaches are calculating how many couples there will be at the dance. I thought she was a wedding planner but maybe that was a different show. She teaches 8th grade.
The mom has a problem with the student's math though. She's not sure everyone HAS a soulmate. "How do you know?" she asks. But the student knows.
These teens are going to help the parents get together y'all. I can feel it.
I think there is a new movie on bc we are now absorbed in an international flower competition. The people look the same to me, but I'm faceblind so it's probably a new show.
