So, you have attacked Belgium again,.
The country you work in.
The country you get your wages from.
Belgium is actually a great nation. The U.K. could learn a lot from Belgium, which is a federal state.
You know, that type of state you are all scared of.
Belgium has 4, not 2 parts like you tried to tell people.
I come from the Flemish part, Beveren, near Antwerp.
You could say that Antwerp is a little like London, with the river running through (De Schelde).
Go down south and you enter the second part, which is the part you work at, Brussels.
So it amazes me you missed this out when you told everyone that Belgium has 2 parts.
Brussels speaks Dutch and French.
This is the most scenic part in my opinion with all the woodlands.
And finally, we have at the east a small part which speaks German.
Do we all get along?
We all have our government and a federal government.
It works!
Are we really divided?
My French is bad but we had lots of fun trying to decipher what we are trying to say.
But I never had the feeling Belgium was divided.
I currently live in the UK and I can say honestly that the referendum did prove how divided the UK actually is.
I am not really planning to write an anti Brexit post though. That was just as a comparison.
Actually, I watch Belgian TV daily.
We do have a national station, which owns the VRT and the RTBF group.
I hope this small bit of education did help you a little.
Especially because you forgot the part you work in.
Or you could try and spend some time in the different parts of Belgium and try and enjoy our beers.
Have a boat trip in Bruge, or Ghent.
Visit the Ardennes, learn a little about our history.
Learn our languages, it helps speaking more than one language.
Belgium as a united country has a national team! Where is the U.K. football team?
