The number of network connections required to @Microsoft and @Skype servers, to get Word just to start, is now 31. You can no longer say "I don´t want to send diagnostic data", then Word just quits silently. (Please spare me the Open/LibreOffice gospel, it does not apply here.)
It is time to require software to be usable offline and to force manufacturers to declare precisely (down to the bits) what data they send and why. That every piece of "productivity"-software turns into spyware can not continue.
The list of hosts @Microsoft Word connects to.
And here is the support document showing that you can only chose between "Basic" and "Full" telemetry, but not "None". I think this violates the #GDPR.

1. Nicht Händeschütteln (Verbeugen ist lustiger)
2. Hände oft mit warmem Wasser und Seife gründlich waschen (wirkt besser als Desinfektionsmittel)
3. Einmal-Handtücher oder trocknen lassen
4. Husten- und Nies-Etikette beachten (in den Ellenbogen)
5. Fahrrad / laufen statt ÖPNV
6. Oft angefasste Oberflächen (Haltestangen, Türklinken, Tür/Fahrstuhlknöpfe etc.) nicht mit den blossen Fingern benutzen (Handschuhe, Ärmel runterziehen, Ellenbogen)
7. Telefone, Tastaturen u.ä. desinfizieren
8. Nicht mit ungewaschenen Händen ins Gesicht / Augen fassen.
9. Masken schützen primär davor, andere Menschen anzustecken, es sei denn sie sind FFP3 (und die sind beim Dauertragen ziemlich lästig) und werden mit rundum schliessenden Schutzbrillen kombiniert (die schnell beschlagen).

Ok folks, so this tweet has generated quite a few reactions on my TL as well as DMs.
In light of this, let me share my own thoughts on the topic of Indian troops for Afghanistan.
Thoughts are still unstructured, but here goes!
Firstly, the question one must ask ourselves is WHY would anyone want Indian troops to help them with their own expeditionary wars.
Well, the answer to that, IMO, is two-fold.
Firstly, the sheer numbers that the Indian armed forces field could put any other army to shame.
Secondly, along with those numbers is the battle winning performance of such troops wherever they have been involved.
And yes, I include Op Pawan when I make this statement. Will come back to that in a while.

Some thoughts on Hong Kong, none pleasant.

But first, an aside on extremism and it’s purpose.
Revolutionaries, terrorists, and protest leaders all work on a similar principle. In a tactical sense this where American heroes like civil rights leaders and the 76 revolutionaries dovetail with villains like confederate secessionists from America and salafi-jihadist terrorists.
In any given population there will be a wide distribution of opinion about What Should Be Done? Let’s make it a distribution. 1-100. The revolutionary wants people to all be at 100. But maybe only 10% are there. Most are somewhere between 30-70 like.

First time I helped to install Win10:

- How many install it without a MS account? 5%? Less?

- Lots of #darkpattern 'choices' regarding personal data

- 'Tailored experiences with diagnostic data'

Digital profiling for personalization+ads based on 'diagnostic data' …seriously?
'If you have selected Full, personalization is also based on information about the websites you browse, how you use apps and features' #preselected

So, Win10 tricks users into massive digital profiling based on everything they do? This is not what an operating system should do.
And it gets even better. Ultimately, Microsoft asks users to 'let apps use' their 'advertising ID', which is a unique identifier for each person using a Win10 device.

This identifier is much better suited to link profile data across many different companies than a name.

This is big news. 1. It’s the first court case of its kind in the country. 2. It sets a precedent for upcoming court cases. 3. Local authorities around England are now looking to launch joint JR against Govt. 4. Most imptly, SEND children will be supported
