This #FathersDay we remember how @SenSchumer and @SpeakerPelosi allowed children to be sold into the sex slave trade and used for #HumanTrafficking by failing to reform immigration laws.

This failure is a crime against humanity.
@SenSchumer @SpeakerPelosi While remembering this #FathersDay and the laws you didn't correct since 1998 or when you controlled all 3 branches of government with Obama and have refused to lift a finger to help for the last 2 years? More "fathers" have shown up Chuck...
@SenSchumer @SpeakerPelosi I'd like to call your attention to my mistake.. I assumed it was our @CBP. No, and thank you @realDonaldTrump #FathersDay for keeping families together in MEXICO 🇲🇽 Muchas gracias for doing more than the US Senate and Congress has done for years!

An old friend of mine, a writer I used to work with, was driving with her husband and their two kids last week. They were hit by a drunk driver with a suspended license. My friend and her husband were seriously injured; their kids were killed. 2/
These were spectacular kids – smart, sweet, compassionate. They could have – should have – done so much more. And now my friend and her husband are... I can’t imagine. Of course I have imagined it – it’s the constant nightmare in the back of every parent’s mind. 3/

In personal terms, nothing is more needful in the church or society than this: raising up godly fathers.

Being a father through marriage is challenging, exhausting, costly--and worth it all.

Today, when men are struggling greatly, let us recommit to training sons to be fathers.
The sense of adventure many men have is meant, in a big way, for marriage, family, and fatherhood.

This is the great task before many of us: to love one wife like Christ, to raise godly children, to build a happy family, to leave everything on the field when we die.

May we be men who lead continually, love generously, repent regularly, die to self daily, contend convictionally, laugh loudly, rejoice in Christ unceasingly, protect sacrificially, provide unfailingly...

and then, when life ebbs, die well, leaving it all on the field.

The fondest memory I have of my father was the day he said to me " Ayo, what will you use to surpass me? I surpassed my father, my father never bought a car in his life, I bought one and drove him in it. If you buy a car tomorrow, you haven't surpassed me. #FathersDay #Thread
No matter how more expensive it is to mine. My father never built a house of his own, he stayed until his death in the house that was co-builded with his brother. I built my own house. Ayo, what will you use to surpass me?? "
When I ponder upon this golden conversation I see two sides to it.

One side says, Ayo, hustle o! Make you no go fall the generational trend of erasing paucity started by your father. Like Drake, he started from the bottom, did house help jobs to study. Became an engineer.

The 8-year-old son of a CIA officer called these shoes “Dad’s lucky boots” after he learned how his father wore these boots while deployed as part of Team Alpha, the first tactical team sent to Afghanistan after 9/11.

#FathersDay #HappyFathersDay #MyDadMyHero #thanksdad
The CIA officer wore these boots almost 24 hours a day for 3 months: climbing mountains, forging rivers, & riding Afghan horses.

He also survived a deadly ambush by al-Qaida prisoner-fighters in the Qala-I-Jangi fortress on November 25, 2001.

#FathersDay #MyDadMyHero
Now in CIA Museum, these artifacts bear the title “Dad’s Lucky Boots” to recognize sacrifices our officers & their families make in service to their country.

#HappyFathersDay to all the dads who serve. A grateful nation celebrates you today.

Chandan's employers not only forced him in this illegal situation, but attempted to distort the postmortem report. Rs 10 lakhs was given to the family according to a Supreme Court directive, but the only job offered to his wife,Putul, was the same one that claimed Chandan's life.
Putul was compelled to take up the offer, to secure a better future for Amit and herself, & fight off the shackles of caste for her son. Amit, on his part is resolved to "become an engineer & develop technology that will prevent humans cleaning gutters."…

Why India in today's game should lose to Pakistan. Here are the reasons:

1. Victory against Pakistan will promote blatant Hindutva Jingoism creating more fear in the minds of already scared Muslims of India. 1/n
2. Victory against Pakistan will deteriorate our relationship with Pakistan further amidst a failed foreign policy of the Modi Government. Instead of talking peace with Pak, Modi has been continuously stoking war this throwing the entire region into a nuclear war risk 2/n
3. Aren't the #FathersDay ads for the #INDvPAK game enough to muddy the waters that we want India to beat Pak in a World Cup game and embarrass a worthy neighbor..our own brother further?? What is happening to our #GangaJamuniTehzeeb? What have we become?? Ashamed!! 3/n

On #FathersDay we spoke to @JoeHMK about flexible working and balancing work and life. It’s a thread! 👇👇👇 @flexnhs #flexappeal
Hello, my name is Joe @JoeHMK and I’m the dad of 10-year old twins as well as being chief executive of Milton Keynes University Hospital @MKHospital. It’s Father’s Day in the UK and so @flexNHS asked me if I’d write a few words on flexible working and balancing work and life...
So first up, flexible working isn’t only for parents - in fact, for me, a lot of the flexibility I’ve needed at work over the past year or so has been around hospital appointments and care for my elderly dad.

1. Fathers day is a tricky time for folks like me that didn’t have good relationships w/ their dads. I’m happy so many people love their fathers! Yet I also know how hard it was to sort out my relationship with mine - It’s not something most men, or women, talk about. #fathersday
2. In my late twenties I called my dad out - I told him I never felt important to him and that I wanted to explore why that was. To my surprise he agreed. Which terrified both of us. And we went on a trip to Yellowstone park together.
3. I know many people never get this far - either no one brings up a tough issue, or the other person rejects the very idea of it. But there we were, walking around in beautiful nature, trying to sort out a broken past (and present).

For each day of #PrideMonth I’ll highlight a different LGBT Jewish icon.

1. Edie Windsor

Her Supreme Court case overturned the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013, paving the way for marriage equality and a host of other LGBT legal protections.

Meeting her was a true blessing.
Everyone who’s met Edie says the same thing— she had a charm for making you feel like family. She also had a special glow that will always stay with me. I hope I can radiate with as much love and joy as she did. What a life she lived.

2. Magnus Hirschfeld

Dubbed the “Einstein of sex,” the German physician founded the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee in 1897 which was the 1st recorded LGBT rights group in history! He also pioneered the 1st gender reassignment surgery. The Nazis later destroyed his institute.

After AKP candidate Yıldırım announced "I can not decide alone" regarding Imamoğlu's challenge to participate in a TV debate, Imamoğlu said "here is the difference; I decide upon what the 16 million residents of this city wants."
AKP Istanbul candidate Yıldırım commented on Imamoğlu's call for a TV debate, "I do not mind which channel or with which journalists we will have a debate with; I would accept all and appear on all platforms. But I will only speak about Istanbul, that is my only request."
AKP vice-chair Mahir Ünal announced "God-willing the TV debate of Yıldırım and Imamoğlu will be on the agenda after the Ramadan Holidays." Yıldırım is claimed to have asked for the TV debate to be on state broadcaster TRT.

(THREAD) There are a lot of great things you can do to support people on the front lines of fights to #KeepFamiliesTogether, #StopSeparation, #EndDetention, #DefundHate, #AbolishICE, and #AbolishCBP.

One of the best places to give $$$ is to a community bond fund.
Bond and bail funds don't have many overhead costs, so all or nearly all of your donations directly benefit impacted families. 100% of $$$ given to our Fronterizo Fianza Fund go towards paying bonds and small commissary/telephone deposits.…
Immigrant bond funds are doing great work. @eicommunitybond is working to free every person arrested during recent workplace raids in Iowa…

My father was bi-polar and an alcoholic with a tremendous heart

He's the reason for everything I am and everything I'm not.

Here's how I stopped the cycle and honor him on #FathersDay and everyday

I was blessed with the most fantastic mother who was forced to provide and care for me.

She never spoke ill of my father.

She did her best to make sure that my father's failures did not impact me.

This allowed me to see that my father's issues were his own and not about me
So much of what I recognize in myself comes from my father.

How I look

My sense of humor

My calm demeanor

This is the first #fathersday without my dad, and although it's difficult to discuss, I will talk about it anyway.

Sometimes you learn more when a person isn't around than when they're still alive and kicking.
My dad lived a great life. When he was young, he was athletic, active, and had a quirky set of humor. He joined a band in his late teens and his twenties, he lifted weights religiously, he made many great friendships, and he got all the girls he wanted.
Unfortunately, after he met my mom and married her, he started to slip up with his health. He stopped eating right, started lifting less, and eventually became overweight and a type 2 diabetic.

On #FathersDay please remember all the fathers in Central America who are fleeing poverty and persecution in search of a safe life for their families. This is why parents come to the border with their children. Because they want a decent life for them. Because they love them. 1/
For two years I worked in Kenya with refugees who had migrated from all over East Africa: Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia. All were fleeing violence, famine and poverty. All wanted to stay in their homelands, but they couldn't. Neither could their children. 2
I must have met hundreds of refugee parents during my time in Kenya, and I can tell you this: No father or mother wants to take their child from their home. But they are forced to. Migrants and refugees do this out of great fear, and out of great love. 3

To white America, "Family values" only apply to white families.

The bond between white children and white parents is sacrosanct and must be protected at all costs.

The bond between Black and Brown parents and their children is negotiable at BEST.

It has always been this way.
White people have historically separated Black and Brown people from their children with a level of ethical qualm generally reserved for people giving out a litter of kittens.
The side effect of denying the humanity of nonwhite people is that no regard whatsoever has ever been given to the sanctity or importance of those family bonds.

Ripping a wailing Black or Brown child from its mother's arms has always just been business.

Still is.
