1. Please stop using the term "God fearing" - Hindus never ever fear God. For us, God is everywhere and we are also integral part of God. God is not a separate entity to fear.

3. Please don't use the word "Mythology" for our historical Ramayana/Mahabharata. Rama & Krishna are historical heroes.

3. Please don't be apologetic about idol worship. All religions have idolatory - cross, words, letters (calligraphy) or direction. Stop using words 'idols', 'statues' 'images'. Use terms 'Moorthi' or 'Vigraha'. Karma, Yoga, Guru Mantra are mainstream, why not Moorthi/Vigraha?

4. Please don't refer to Ganesh & Hanuman as "Elephant god" and "Monkey god" respectively. You can simply write Shree Ganesh and Shree Hanuman.

5. Please don't refer to our temples as prayer halls. Temples are "devalaya" (abode of god) and not "prathanalaya" (Prayer halls).

6. Please don't wish your children "black birthday" by allowing them to blow off the candles on top of the birthday cake. Don't throw spit on the divine fire (Agni Deva). Instead, ask them to pray by lighting a lamp. These are all strong images that go deep into the psyche.

On the contrary, in India, Sages were scientists.

2/n #Hinduism is a reduced nomenclature given to the Sanatana Dharma by British in 1830s. The word Hinduism is formed by adding suffix ISM to Hindu.

ISM is defined as a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement.
3/n It must be understood that Hindu term always had geo-cultural meaning covering for people residing amid Sindhu River, Himalayas & Indu Sagar. Then in this case adding suffix ISM is nothing but mocking English Language. Eg, u can’t add Ism to Japanese and call Japaneism.

I am no expert on Dharma, but here are ten easy steps we can all take at our individual levels to assert our identity as Hindus. #Hindu #Identity #HinduPride
1) Tell your kids or nephews or nieces, or kids you know stories from our history and religion. Buy them Indic books. Take them to see Hindu temple architecture, and when they ask you, pointing at a vandalised Murti, ‘what happened here’? Tell them the truth, with the names!
2) Have a Pooja corner in your house. Have a regular ritual. Light a lamp. Make children pray before they set out for school. Just a simple chanting of a few shlokas is enough to keep them connected if you do it on a daily bases. Visit a temple on festivals or on their birthday.
