US Gov. Meddling Machine Boasts of ‘Laying the Groundwork for Insurrection’ in Nicaragua
grayzoneproject.com/2018/06/19/ned…
Extremely important article by @MaxBlumenthal in @GrayzoneProject
Nicaraguan student protest leaders are meeting with neocons in DC, asking for Trump's help, while a publication funded by the US gov's regime change arm the NED boasts of spending millions of dollars “laying the groundwork for insurrection” against Ortega grayzoneproject.com/2018/06/19/ned…
Regime change-loving Trotskyites are again lobbying to topple a Global South government that is targeted for overthrow by the US.

They're rewriting the same old hackneyed screeds. Replace Nicaragua with Syria and Ortega with Assad and this is déjà vu.

This infantile rant in pro-imperialist, social-chauvinist magazine New Politics is indistinguishable from neoconservative writing on Nicaragua.

Dan La Botz admits there is no significant left-wing opposition and calls Ortega—who was re-elected with 72% of the vote—a "dictator."
When they absurdly call Nicaragua an "authoritarian" "dictatorship," Trotskyites, conservatives, and the corporate media (who are basically indistinguishable) always conveniently leave out the fact that Ortega was re-elected in 2016 with 72% of the vote.

This vile photo op says everything. The student leaders of the protest movement in Nicaragua took a trip to DC — paid for by US government-funded right-wing advocacy group Freedom House — to pose with Ted Cruz and ask for Trump's help to overthrow Ortega.
The "NGO" world is such a farce. Freedom House is an "independent" so-called "non-governmental organization" that is literally funded by the US government and acts as an arm of US soft power.

Many NGOs are just outsourced government institutions that symbolize the neoliberal era
“A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA,” Allen Weinstein, a founder of the National Endowment for Democracy, said in 1991.

Many NGOs, think tanks, and foundations (eg, Ford, Rockefeller, OSF) act as vehicles for US soft power

This is one of the most important articles you'll ever read washingtonpost.com/archive/opinio…
It boasts — in the wake of the destruction of the Soviet Union — of how the CIA outsourced its work to "NGOS," think tanks, and foundations, which help the US in its "global anti-communist putsch"
Human Rights Watch has longstanding ties to the US government, and in fact has its origins in the anti-communist group Helsinki Watch, which was a pro-US "NGO" founded in the 1970s as a key part of the pro-capitalist “human rights” battle in the Cold War. alternet.org/grayzone-proje…
Human Rights Watch — which loves to lobby for regime change against socialist governments in the Global South, while it refused to oppose the criminal US wars on Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Yemen — has a revolving door with the US government, CIA, and NATO
