I got polling data on over 3000 Trump tweets and found

1) They're are generally not super popular
2) Some the least popular tweets were insults
3) Some of the most popular tweets were boring ceremonial things
4) Rs, Ds sort of of agree on a lot of them

Data is from YouGov's Tweet Index: tweetindex.yougov.com

They've been getting national samples to rate Trump's tweets for like a year and a half ish. The scale is "Great" "Good" "OK" "Bad" "Terrible" for every tweet

That gets translated into a numerical score --> Tweet Index!
One basic finding is that the average (and median) Trump tweet is not super popular. Also notice the bump in the histogram to the left of zero -- lots of negative scores in this dataset.

There's a big spread though. Theoretical max/min is -200, 200 so some tweets are popular
A lot of the worst rated tweets are random insults. Like this was, according to the Tweet Index, the worst-rated tweet in the whole dataset

Which, to me, makes sense. He's not scoring a ton of partisan points or something by attacking Cuban. He's just kind of calling that guy from Shark Tank dumb. I'm not sure what audience is supposed to love that
Anyways some of Trump's highest rated stuff looks like this

Which also makes sense. He's honoring vets and talking about Pearl Harbor. Not a huge amount of explicitly political stuff. Makes sense that the most popular stuff is ceremonial
Also interestingly found that when you break it down by partisanship --> GOP, Dems agree more than expected

The absolute ratings aren't the same. But when Dems hate a tweet, GOP is lukewarm. And when GOP loves a tweet, Dems are generally middling about it
There are some polarizing tweets in there (many of them feature Trump attacking Russia investigation, media, prominent Democratic figures like HRC, Obama --> make sense that that'd be polarizing)
But overall the pattern seems to be pretty linear. It's not something where there's one cluster of tweets that the GOP loves and Ds hate and then everything else elsewhere. Pattern looks different than I think some might expect
also apparently I, as usual, need a copy editor for my tweets. *They're generally not super popular
