Study: Findings indicated that women denied a wanted abortion had four times greater odds of having a household income below the federal poverty level and three times greater odds of being unemployed after six months. 1/
The popular notion that only heartless women get abortions is ludicrous. The vast majority of women seeking an abortion — 73% — say they are doing so because they cannot afford a child and need to keep working. 2/
Study: Some 60% of women seeking abortions did so because they were already mothers and did not think they could afford additional children. Many others live in poverty and/or rural areas and have little or no access to medical care or contraceptives. 3/
We must remind legislators that Roe v Wade came into being for very good reasons: Too many back-street abortion deaths; women's right to control their own bodies and lives; and the economic need for women in the workforce at every level. We will not go back -- only forward. 4/x
