Consumers want, need and expect transparency and control over their data. Today we've published a 'proof of concept' for a smart meter data dashboard - a way for consumers to see who's accessing their energy usage data and amending it (1/6) (thread)
Detailed energy usage data could unleash new offers and services, possibly saving consumers time and money. But, it can also provide insight into the products people use and how they behave in their homes. (2/6)
Keeping consumers in control of their data, and the rate it is shared, means companies should offer real value to access it. (3/6)
The feasibility study shows it is possible to create a data dashboard, which allows consumers to view, query and amend access to energy usage data. But there is still work to do to overcome challenges, like identity verification. (4/6)
A 'proof of concept' is the first step. Our last workshop with industry indicated support to deliver this concept as a valuable tool for consumers and to address gaps in control and transparency with the DCC model. (5/6)
We'll be continuing to discuss the delivery of a data dashboard. Here's a link to our report and learnings from the feasibility study. bit.ly/2KM5aQu
