Twitter purges locked accounts, and, as predicted, celebrities see their follower counts drop.

Worth remembering that bots often follow celebs to look more human. This doesn't mean that any of the big names necessarily bought followers.

Interesting to see the percentage drops involved, too. All but @Twitter had figures around or under the 3% mark.

The 12% drop (7 million) for Twitter is pretty striking. Too simplistic to relate that directly to the number of bots which were online, but it's a big hit.
Got to admit, @Twitter has made some pretty brave decisions in the last couple of weeks. Deleting 70+ million accounts takes guts, when success is measured by user base.

Bots are the easiest part of the problem, but still, this was a big decision.
