But you might remember Agriprocessors for another reason: In 2008, ICE launched one of the largest workplace raids in history on a Postville, Iowa slaughterhouse that made headlines across the country.
In the raid, ICE officials rounded up hundreds of immigrants, mostly from Guatemala and Mexico. They found more than 20 underage workers in the plant, including some as young as 13. The raid tore families and the entire community apart, and left many struggling to get by.
Worse, ICE raided the slaughterhouse even though they knew it was under investigation by multiple state & federal agencies and workers were trying to organize a union. ICE’s raid effectively stopped the organizing and let the company off the hook for the worst labor violations.
Only a few managers or executives faced any legal consequences, and the manager of the facility, Sholom Rubashkin, had his sentence commuted by Trump in 2017 after serving only 8 years of his 27 year sentence.
And just like when Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio, his support for Rubashkin demonstrates yet again just how little he cares about the rights of immigrants, and how he celebrates those who abuse them.

What does this have to do with Kavanaugh? Because that’s same sentiment he showed in the Agriprocessors case from Brooklyn, arguing that immigrants literally have no protection under labor laws.
Because of people like Trump and Kavanaugh, greedy CEOs can make piles of money by abusing immigrants, well assured that they will be bailed out if they are exposed.
If Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed, Trump will have another ally on the highest court in the land as he continues his campaign to deny immigrants their fundamental human rights. #StopKavanaugh #SaveSCOTUS
