Welp, iCloud on all my devices (iPhone XS Max, iPad Pro, Mac mini) has started randomly not syncing some things.

Reminders and HomeKit scenes different across devices. Photos and notes are fine.

After signing out and back in, iPhone told me it hadn’t backed up in 4 weeks 🤔
The iPhone is now stuck on doing this backup, saying “2 hours remaining”, and it’s not moving at all (I have a fiber connection).

I have already tried signing out of iCloud and back in everywhere. Honestly not sure what to do except hope it’ll fix itself eventually 🙁
Deleted all my previous incomplete backups, now stuck like this after 90 minutes. Will keep checking later today. 🤔

Shortcuts 2.1 beta 2 is out! Some great changes in this one:

- New actions to create alarms and timers directly in the app
- New Measurement actions
- Better AirPlay integration via HomePod
- New controls to stop sharing a shortcut
With the new Clock actions, it is possible to build simple but effective Pomodoro-style timers in Shortcuts.

You can also create “goodnight” routines more easily by toggling specific alarms directly 👍
Here are the new sharing controls in Shortcuts 2.1 b2. Reopen an iCloud link you previously shared to get an option to delete the link and wipe data from iCloud.

I firmly believe Photoshop on iPad is just the first big example of a shift that will occur in the 3 years with more desktop apps coming to iPad Pro.

Subscriptions, USB-C, cloud files, and more powerful iOS multitasking are accelerating this transition.

i.e. If your files are always in a cloud, and if an app is the same client everywhere thanks to a subscription, and if you have an iPad with a Pencil/trackpad and powerful enough to output 4K to an external display, at which point do you just have a Mac in a different shell?
In other words, this would be the ideal scenario I've been building towards since I effectively stopped using a Mac in 2014.

I want an iPad Pro that can become "a Mac" when *I need it to be* while still being a tablet for everything else. And I believe it's going to happen.

Before I start on the places, the history around all this is fascinating & splits opinion. Is it apt to call the script Tamili/Tamil Brahmi? Did it develop independently in the Tamil country/come with the Jain monks from the north? Were 8,000 Jains actually impaled in Madurai?>

Yesterday late afternoon #Russia/n forces took 3 positions in Qusseyr and Juseh and established checkpoints. #Hezbollah, not informed of the Russian presence, came close to these forces and asked their immediate pull out+
Following the direct intervention of President Bashar al-Assad, the Russian force pulled out this morning and avoided any clash with #Hezbollah in the area.

hezbollah maantin and kept all positions. The #Russia/n move was not coordinated.+

#Hezbollah did not...I repeat, did not pull out one single element from the area.

I spoke to people on the ground: The Russian decision was unclear and considered unwelcome by the forces on the ground. Still, many elements of this move are unclear.
