Let's talk about Patriotism.

These people are the last true British patriots. They fought and died in the second world war, sacrificing everything to defeat the ever appealing evil populist ideas of Fascism and Totalitarian Communism.

These wonderful people, grandparents and great grand parents of anyone under about the age of 50 were like a great vaccination for society.

They had died fighting populists and demagogues. They recognised false promises and tribalism. And they promised to never let it return

We owe the great generation a debt of honour that can never been repaid.

Thanks to them we had almost 70 years of growth, prosperity, a welfare state, a global economy and fewer people in poverty than at any time in history.

Thank you great generation. We were blessed.

But this generation is now almost entirely passed.

It breaks my heart to think that they have gone after all they did for us and protected us against. But they are gone.

And we need to say goodbye.

If we are to be vacinated against populists we must now make our own drugs

Because now another generation is in power, the children of the generation who died in the world wars.

The baby Boomers.

Unlike their parents, this generation has known no real adversity. In fact they've profited from the plans of their parents. They've become lazy and greedy

This generation of baby Boomers have had it all. NHS, final salary pensions, property, massive improvements in standards of living.

And what have they done with it?

Climate change. Plastic pollution, greenhouse gases and now populism

This generation is indulgent and selfish

Because the sad truth is that as a whole populism is a trend led by the old, stealing the future from the young.

As the chart shows, while not all Baby Boomers are selfish, the overall trend is a shameful vote for themselves over anyone who follows them.

And now we find out that not only did they create brexit to further their personal selfish objectives, but they also conspired to illegally corrupt the referenda on which it was based.

Would the great generation have stood for that?

I think we all know the answer.

Enough is enough.

Brexit is illegal
It has no benefits
It provides no solutions
It creates chaos
It's the sort of populist nonsense that a generation died to prevent.

Tribalism and populism never truly go away. We must always to ready to fight easy solutions based on hate.

It's time we took back control of our country.

From the baby boomers

True democrats have nothing to fear by consulting the people. Let's have a #PeoplesVote on the brexit deal.

Then we can set about building the sort of country the Great Generation would have been proud of.
